Pashupatinath, Kathmandu - largest Hindu temple to Lord Shiva in Nepal. This is also the place where cremation takes place on the banks of the Bagmati river.

Buddhanath, Kathmandu - one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu and is one of the largest Stupa's in the world.

Kathmandu Durbar Square - a UNESCO world heritage site and the site of the former Shah King's Palace,

Swayambhunath, Kathmandu - also known as Monkey Temple is believed to have been a site of worship since the 5th century.

Pokhara - the World Peace Stupa high above Pokhara, canoes on Phewa Lake and the main street of Pokhara!

Sunrise at Sarangkot - we got up 4:30am for our transfer and the 1 hour hike to the look out point! We made it just in time to see the sun peak out from under the clouds and slowly expose the Annapurna range to sunlight breaking through the cloud and mist!

Around Pokhara - we visited the British Gurkha museum, Devi's fall, the Tibetian refugee settlement and our favourite local cafe, Moondance (with free wifi).

Pokhara, Avia Microflight - this was the highlight of my trip! Flying 6000m above sea level up close to the Annapurna range in this tiny flying machine powered by something similar to a lawn mower engine that appears to be assembled minutes prior to take off!

Preparing for take off ...
In flight ... Grace's plane is in the middle and you can just make out Dean in the back ... flying over Fewa Lake!Safely back on the ground!

Chitwan National Park - besides the threat of being bitten alive by mosquitoes and avoiding leeches, we spent a very relaxing 3 days at this national park! We had our own little cottage and got to go on an elephant safari where we were lucky enough to see a one horned rino!

Everest Flight - seeing that we couldn't get to Tibet for the hike to base camp (stupid visa restrictions in October) we opted to take the Buddha air flight over the Everest range. Honestly, not really worth it, but we never would have known if we didn't give it a go!

Bhakapur Durbar Square - this was my favourite city in Nepal. The buildings and temples were well preserved and had a "authentic local" feel not totally overrun by tourists!

Changunarayan - this temple is dedicated to Visnu. A stone statue with inscriptions dated back to the 4th centruy makes this temple one of the oldest in Nepal. It is also known for its ornate wooden carvings.

Sunrise at Nararkot - although not as nice as the one in Pokhara, everything at 6am in the morning is so beautiful and peaceful especially when you can capture Mount Everest in the background of your pics!

Lunch at Hatiban - with sweeping views over Kathmandu Valley! Our last lunch together as a group, which we celebrated by showing off our microflight shirts!

Thamel, Kathmandu - we arrived back in Kathmandu on the first day of the Festival of Lights (Tihar), where all the store fronts were brightly decorated with flowers and mosaics.
