Day 37 - 40: Bucharest

Everyone said it ... and at least now I have had first hand experience. There really isn't that much to see or do in Bucharest! Grrrr, but the nerve of some people, this taxi driver tried to convince me it would cost 200 lei (50 EUR) to get a taxi to the hotel from the station, I ended up calling the hotel for a taxi and the actual cost turned out to only be 10 lei! - that infuriated me!

The second largest building in the world - the Palaces of Parliament (view from the balcony!)

The balcony where Ceausescu made his last speech (in the background near the flags!)

Memorial to the martyrs of the revolution - nicknamed "Olive on a Stick!"

Image taken during the revolution, displayed in the IO Cafe at Piata Revolutiei (they serve a fantastic mint and lemongrass tea!)

Ceausescu trying to imitate the Champs Elyse

We had dinner at this tacky (but entertaining) Dracula restaurant!

And an amazing triple chocolate sunday from Chocolat near Strada Lipscani.
